Foot pain can be divided into different regions: hindfoot (rearfoot), midfoot, and forefoot. Each region can be affected by different conditions, including acute inflammation, chronic injuries, and developmental conditions. Some common foot conditions include:

  • Achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis in the hindfoot
  • Navicular stress fractures, midfoot sprains, and Lisfranc injuries in the midfoot
  • Morton’s neuroma, neuritis, and metatarsalgia in the forefoot.

Foot pain is often seen in sports that involve high forefoot loading, such as basketball and netball, but can also be caused by osteoarthritis and bony spurring. It is important to receive a thorough assessment from a health professional to determine the cause of your foot pain and develop a treatment plan to address it.
