Running related injuries are extremely common, with studies showing at least 50% of runners will deal with some form of injury.
Injuries are due to a number of factors and each runner will have a unique set of characteristics and determinants that have contributed. A comprehensive assessment and examination is crucial to identify factors and then establish a plan to address them and get you back to doing what you enjoy!
Injuries are multi-factorial and need a multi-factorial solution
Often injuries result from a combination of training load errors, poor recovery/high stress, biomechanical factors and genetics. Due to this complexity, it is important to manage those factors that are impacting the runner the most. Sometimes it can be due to poor strength or tissue capacity due to a runner’s biomechanics. We can utilise state-of-the-art Zebris gait analysis in order to assess the area of overload and implement tools such as a prescription orthoses to deflect tissue stress, individualised strength training and adjusting training load to help that runner overcome the issue.
